A sympathetic restoration of an historic 18th century North Yorkshire farm
This historic 18th century farm, situated in the Craven District of North Yorkshire, underwent a major internal and external restoration before being placed on the market for the first time in over a century. The three main residential properties on the estate - Rome Farmhouse, Provender House, and Tiber Barn, form part of a wider collection of buildings that form the centrepiece to this massive rolling farm estate.
Restoration of such historic buildings brings with it significant responsibilities with regard to the choice of heritage building materials to match the existing walls, roofing and paving. Properties such as this are a natural part of the wider rural landscape, so any modifications or enhancements need to satisfy strict building regulations.
Here we were able to provide the builders with a range of reclaimed roofing tiles, reclaimed stone walling, reclaimed Yorkshire stone, and reclaimed timber flooring. The trick with this kind of heritage restoration contract is to make the restoration work as invisible as possible, hence why our stock of carefully matched building materials met the very precise specifications required.
Our historic building products can now be found, but not necessarily noticed, on the building’s interior and exterior walling, its roofing, floors and outdoor paving.
